Day Camps and Summer Camp

Beaverton PAL runs day camps on non-holiday, non-school week days, such as winter break and spring break.  We also have an eight week long summer camp program.  Day camp program hours are 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.  Check our Events section for information on upcoming camps!

Mentoring

Beaverton PAL is part of the National PAL Mentoring Program in which volunteer mentors are matched with PAL youth for weekly mentoring sessions.  Mentoring is a way PAL can help build strong children, no matter what issues they may be facing.  Youth.gov reports a variety of benefits to youth who participate in mentoring programs, including lower dropout rates, healthier relationships and lifestyle choices, improved behavior and interpersonal skills, and stronger relationships with adults.

PAL Mentoring is a structured program with a curriculum supplied by the National PAL organization.  This is also a great volunteering opportunity for community members.

Boxing

Beaverton PAL Boxing Gym helps youth through Olympic-style boxing.  Head Coach Charlie Rios leads the program with the support of five assistant coaches.  All coaches are 100% volunteer.  Team members participate in conditioning, training, and sparring.  Additionally, team members and coaches travel on weekends to tournaments and boxing shows, such Silver Gloves, Golden Gloves, and Junior Olympics across the state and region.  Our team members have qualified for national competition and has trained three national champions.  The cost of boxing is $120.00 for the season, which runs September 15th through July 15th.

The Learning Center

PAL members can receive assistance and tutoring on their homework from PAL team members and volunteers.  There is also a library, as well as computers to study or play math and word games on.

Cooking with Cops

Beaverton Police Officers volunteer their time to teach youth simple dishes on the first Wednesday of each month.

Computer Clubhouse

In the clubhouse the youth will get hands on experience with high-end professional hardware and software, develop technical fluency, and build their skills and self-confidence through the use of technology.  The Computer Clubhouse provides youth with practical 21st century skills- preparing them for success.

Programming has included the Lego Robotics Team, a Teens & Tech Day with Best Buy volunteers, and various projects planned by our clubhouse coordinator.

Arts & Crafts

Each Monday and Thursday, one of one volunteers, Nancy, leads youth in an arts & crafts project.

The Game Room

This room features billiards, foosball, air hockey, and ping pong.  There are also many board games and puzzles, as well as a television for movies and video game hour.
