Jules Schoolmeester – Executive Director

Prior to joining Beaverton PAL, Jules served as executive director for Face It TOGETHER Sioux Falls, a non-profit organization focusing on helping individuals and families get well from addiction, headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  She brings strength and experience in communications, particularly writing and presentation skills.  She also worked as a paralegal at the Minnehaha County Office of the Public Defender in Sioux Falls, which created a passion for advocating for a greater understanding of the disease of addiction and how addiction affects the criminal justice system.  Prior to that, Jules was employed with Volunteers of America-Dakotas, coordinating the AmeriCorps and volunteer programs, as well as serving as a Youth Link teacher at Whittier Middle School.

Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She enjoys spending time with her German Shorthaired Pointer, Joey, and is a blogger and runner.

Fenuinui Bruce Leomiti – Mentoring Program Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator

Bruce graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelors of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice.  He was first introduced to the PAL program as a youth, while playing for Marshall’s PAL youth football team.  He was reintroduced to PAL through his PSU senior internship with Cathy Sherick at the Four Cities Peer Court and was hired as a team member in 2009.

Bruce enjoys working at PAL because every day is different and challenging.  He enjoys working with youth and appreciates that they teach him as much as he teaches them.  His favorite thing about PAL is teaching the kids the benefits of discipline and hard work.  Many of our youth haven’t previously experienced that mentality, so seeing youth set goals and achieve them is particularly rewarding for Bruce.

Vickie Aguliar – Administrative Assistant

Vickie has been working with PAL for six years and loves it!  She handles maintaining stats, collecting applications and dues, and answering phones, in addition to her great work with our kids.  She makes certain that kids are checked in and out safely each day and has a gift for developing relationships with the families we serve.  She loves working with the kids and seeing them happy makes her happy!

Nick Taylor – Computer Clubhouse Coordinator

Nick has been involved with PAL for 10 years and has been the Clubhouse Coordinator since 2014.

Nick has an Associates of Applied Science (Video Production/Graphic Design) from PCC.  In addition to PAL, he does freelance work utilizing his degree with most of his work being sports-related.  He enjoys working with people and helping make a difference in their lives.  He has worked with youth nearly 20 years in many different capacities, from homeless youth advocate to summer camp counselor.

Basketball is one of his biggest passions, when he is not playing or watching basketball, he serves as a youth basketball coach.  He also enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing with his wife and four children.
